This toolkit is designed for volunteers. It outlines the journey an Asylum Guide may take with a client. You'll find everything you need when preparing for and meeting with asylum seekers and refugees.

    Phase 1. Registration
    Your first meeting with the client!
    In this first meeting you should complete the equal opportunity form, get to know the client and introduce your role as an Asylum Guide.

    The initial assessment form should also be completed. It will help you to prepare for your next meeting and find out how best to support them on this journey.

    Don't forget to arrange a time and place to meet next!
    Phase 2. Asylum Guide Meetings
    In this section, you'll find everything you need when preparing for an Asylum Guide meeting.
    In each Asylum Guide meeting you will have the time and space to share information to build the confidence and understanding of the client as they go through their asylum journey.

    The resources below will allow you to explain, discuss and understand what to do at different stages of the process.

    Select the information you need in this meeting and complete the meeting feedback form at the end.

    The feedback form will measure the impact of the project, identify the needs of the client and help you to prepare for your next meeting.

    Use this meeting to check what final information the client would benefit from hearing and whether the client needs referring to another service.
